To be legally married in Australia, you must:

not be married to someone else

be at least 18 years old

provide Notice of Intended Marriage form to authorised celebrant within the required time frame - i.e. minimum 1 calendar month and maximum 18 months

not be marrying a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister
